About The Artist

Mike Lauritzen is a Pacific Northwest native and a true multi-talent. Born and raised in Lakewood, WA, he grew up exploring every interest that caught his attention — sports, theater, literature, gaming, science fiction, and eventually, painting. Creativity has always been part of his DNA, and his art reflects that wide range of inspiration.

After studying at the University of Washington and Evergreen State College, Mike returned to his hometown to teach Language Arts and History. For more than 20 years, he’s coached, guided, and encouraged middle-school students with the kind of steady leadership people remember long after they leave his classroom. That same approach — patient, real, and always willing to learn — shows up in his artwork.

Mike’s paintings pull from the worlds he loves: cosmic sci-fi scenes, classic Bob Ross–style landscapes, and rich pour paintings packed with color and movement. His style is bold, imaginative, and unmistakably his own. Whether he’s creating a galaxy filled with neon planets or a quiet mountain morning inspired by the PNW, each piece carries his signature mix of curiosity, skill, and laid-back humor.

As an evolving artist, Mike is always experimenting — new methods, new tools, new challenges. For him, art isn’t just a hobby. It’s how he unwinds, pushes himself, and keeps exploring what’s possible.
